INITIATION PHOTOS!!

FINALLY! The much promised pictures!!! Everything I painted that I talked so long about! I'm not at all artistic, but I spent HOURS and DAYS working on all of this... possibly the only artistic things I've ever done!! Hope you enjoy... I'm pretty sure my wonderful little did!!!

This bulletin board was the hardest thing for me to figure out what to do, but it was one of my favorites! I literally put it off till the last minute!

My canvas - the first big thing I painted!

The canvases were the size of my palm! So tiny and cute!

The flask was a PAIN to make because it kept smearing, but it came out great! It's the same on the other side except with her name!

The other thing I'm most proud of- THE PADDLE!!!! It came out AWESOME!

You can't really see the pattern I did on her letters, but I loooove this floral!!!

The lion, Chinese lantern is sooo fun!!

Her initiation basket!!!

More of her presents!

All her gifts for initiation!

 Close-up of the basket!

My beautiful little, Kristen, (in the red) and me after initiation!! So excited and proud of her!!

I Feel Like A Real Person

Today was the career fair for the Comm School! Usually, only Juniors and Seniors (and super over achieving Sophomores) attend in search of job opportunities and internships. The Communication Career Services does a great job of bringing in a myriad of incredible companies (Livestrong, Facebook, Girls Scouts of America, etc) from varying fields. I wasn't planning on going until I heard my super enthusiastic sorority sister, Melanie, was talking about it at lunch today. Now Mel is probably the most encouraging person I've ever met! First of all, she transferred to UT this year from TCU and fits with us like a GLOVE!  Everything she says just makes you feel good about yourself! Anyways, back to my story... Mel is a business student and still wanted to attend the Comm Career Expo. She prepared her resumes, researched all the companies attending that she was interested, and dressed super cute and professional just to attend! I, along with everyone at the lunch table, was so impressed at her ambition considering she's a business student and she spent that much time researching possible interships for business students. So, of course, she inspired me! I figured I might as well go considering I have nothing else to do between Org Comm and French. Also, there is this thing called the "Real World" and one day I may have to enter it. So, might as well start figuring out how to be part of it, kind of... So, I printed off my sad excuse of a resume (which was so embarrassing to hand out when people asked for people!) put on my pro-fesh outfit and headed on in! I felt like a real person as opposed to someone stuck in this weird in between of half kid half adult AKA college student! It was fun to talk about marketing and hours and whatever! Who knows, maybe someone will want to hire me? Hopefully that cute guy who pays his intern and is raffling off a keg?? Anyways, French is about to start so I guess I should pay attention??

LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK

PS. If you know anyone who wants to hire me as an intern....!!

Weekend in Mexico

So this weekend I took a trip across the border! It was quite excited though Hun (my mother) was, of course, a little worry muffin the whole time! But who can be surprised?? That's mother!!! It was a GREAT trip - I went with Cru and we teamed up with Crossroads mission in Piedras Negras. We did lots of fun activities (orphanage, school, state hospital, etc). I definitely grew a lot spiritually while I was there and learned many things! One thing I learned: I'm kind of funny. I always thought I was that girl who tries to be funny, but miserably fails. But hey, I made some pretty funny comments that I was proud of! One example: there was one guy who was talking about how his mom wanted to be an astronaut but only got to work for mission control (or something smart like that). So, I had the witty thought to come back with- "So she's an astro-NOT?" And people actually laughed!! I was proud of that one! Though, does this entire post recognizes that I now realizing that I am sometimes funny defeat the funny?? Maybe I need to feel defeated in my funny attempt to be the "ironic, under the breath, dry sarcastic, kind of cheesy, but slightly funny girl." Yes, that is my label when it comes to comedy. A bit long, but it gives you a full description to know what to expect with me! Anyways, I should probably get back to the large amount of homework I've been dreading!!

Love you to the moon in back!

P.S. I PROMISE to post the pictures of the stuff I painted soon!!!

To My First (and possibly only) Reader!

Dearest J-Wong,
I adore you! And I love that you read my blog! Now I know that I'm not writing to absolutely no one! It's good to know that my words aren't going out onto the world wide web and being completely forgotten!
Don't over-study yourself! You'll burn out and that would be awful! You out and have some fun! I love that you and my little are becoming besties!!! Cuz a) I adore you, so you're someone awesome for her to be friends with!  b) she's the bomb so you're going to love hanging out with her! and c) april and I are basically the dream team, so you two could be also!
I'll try not to go so long without out posting another blog again so you have a wee bit of amusement for your late nights in the dining room! I'll be joining you a lot this week! I have a math test,  French test and two papers so you and are going to have more longs nights together! Just like old times! One night we should find one of those 24 hour coffee shops and go there just to get out of the house! I'm for sure glad I got a big nap today to prepare for many sleepless nights this week!
Well, I should probably stop procrastinating and get back to studying!!! Good luck with your endless studying and feel free to join me up in 304 if you need a break!!
Love you to the moon and back!!!

CHALLENGE!!

As I was sitting here reading my Org Comm book (Organizational Communications - doesn't that sound like sooo much fun!) I came across something very interesting. I was reading about job interviews as a form of blah blah blah. Anyways, the book gave 3 different examples of types of interviews and the third one sparked an idea in me. The third example was something along the lines of: you're asked in an interview to describe a sunset to someone who has never seen one. So, I figured that would be a fun challenge! Try to think of how you would do that! Comment back or just think about it today while you walk down the street! Let me know how you would do it! Have fun with it!
Love you to the moon in back!

Long Time!

So it's been a long time since my last post! I've been keeping busy with school and initiation! I'm finally finished with all my painting!!! I'll post pictures soon of everything - all the presents I made for my little for initiation!!! She loooooved it all and was soooo excited when she got her basket!!! It was soo much fun to take her through initiation! It's such a special experience!!
Anyways! This weekend my goal is to be productive! There is no football game to take up my entire Saturday and most everyone is gone for ACL. So, I  have no excuse NOT to get anything done.
Currently, I'm sitting in one of the most precious coffee shops in Austin. One of the older girls in my sorority is probably the most awesome person who knows everything there is to know about local culture. So, I went straight to her to ask about a good coffee shop! This place - Thunderbirds is sooo cute! It's a wood building painted green. It has a precious little deck for sitting outside and the inside is a mismatch a furniture as well as people. It's surrounded by a neighborhood on one side and local commercialism on the other. NEW FAVORITE!
I just needed to get out of the house! I've been cooped up in there for so long! I feel like everyone always has someone to go or be. Where as me, I'm just always in the house. So, I was feeling a little claustrophobic and wanted to get out to get my work done! I'm so glad I did cuz this place is wonderful and perfectly peaceful!
Be looking for pictures soon! I should be posting them within the next few days. You'll finally get to see the painting I've been talking about for so long. Now, don't expect any great works of art! I'm no artist like my brother! But, I did work my butt off and I'm pretty proud of how it all turned out!
I hope everyone has a wonderful and beautiful day! Go be productive and for those of you at ACL: have fun and be safe!
Love you to the moon and back!
